The pastor's ponderings

Welcome

Posted by Rob under From the pastor's hand

Welcome to my blog.  From time to time I will add my thoughts, books I’m reading, the things Jesus is doing in my life, etc.  I hope you enjoy walking this journey with me.

While you’re here, why not check out our picture progress of the new Pasadena Shopping Green, this is where our new facility will be located.

Blessings in Jesus,

Rob

What a great morning!  Sunday 29th February, 2012.  The first service in our new building at the Pasadena Green Shopping Centre.  Thanks to everyone who made this possible.

Lord let your kingdom come!

Well it’s been nine months since the demolition of the old Pasadena Shopping Centre including the old Southland Vineyard Church facility.  Amazing what a difference nine months makes!  Looks like we’ll be moving in to the new premises Jan or Feb, 2012.

Check out our update video –

Internal services to the new facility are now being installed including electrical, plumbing, audio visual and security, etc. This is going to be a great state-of-the-art church facility right in the heart of a thriving and busy shopping centre.

Our vision for this facility is that it would bring God’s kingdom rule to ordinary people in the marketplace. We are in a great position to resource and equip believers for kingdom ministry. We’re looking forward to inviting a number of friends from around the world to have input into us as we dedicate the building to serving Jesus. Keep an eye on this blog and on the Southland Vineyard Church website for details of coming events.

I’m maintaining monthly “progress in pictures” of the building under the “New Building” page.  Check back from time to time to see what’s happening.

KaPow!

What an fantastic weekend.  It felt like the Lord came down from the mountain to hang-out with us – that’s technical speak for “tabernacle” :-)   The team from the US included Ken Fish, Al Dievendorf and Brian White.  Kirk Delaney, Brisbane and Mike Hamilton, Melbourne joined us as well as the Marion Vineyard Church.

I haven’t seen the power of God hit with such force since the mid nineties.  It feels like we were hit by a bunker busting bomb …  People were falling under the power of the Spirit, healed, delivered and filled with power like electicity going through their bodies.  These weren’t “those nutty weird people that we all know”, but people I know personally who “won’t settle for a copy”, including myself.

Can’t wait to see where this is headed!

The following video was shot the morning of the building dedication, 4th June, 2011.

This weekend right after laying a Bible in the foundations of the new building a team of 15 from Southland Vineyard Church went to the Body, Mind and Psychic Expo with our Healing on the Streets banner and set up a stall for the full two days of the event.  Three hundred stalls, including four Christian Churches represented a very wide range of spiritual ideologies and philosophies.

Our team prayed for around 200 people across 2 days.  We saw a broken hand reset by the Holy Spirit, backs healed, thyroid lumps subside, a lady with a brain tumour had tingling and heat over her head, most people had a physical sensation; i.e. heat, tingling, etc.  The longer the weekend went on the more unusual and miraculous the healings were.  We had queues of people waiting and even had four or five “healers” come to us for healing; we later found out that these guys were referring people to us.  Also had five or more people surrender their lives to Jesus, including a Jewish lady.  One lady came with a pentagram on a chain around her neck; she had three little girls and asked us to pray for them as they were suffering severe depression.  Two of our ladies laid their hands on the little girl and broke the power of depression and the little girl erupted into laughter.

We gave away 170 “Why Jesus” brochures along with invitations to come to church; we’ve also had follow up emails and one lady we met at the Expo was in church the very next morning.  Praise God for His amazing grace and faithfulness!

These photos were taken during some of the quieter periods.

What an amazing weekend!  This weekend a small group, around 30 of us, laid a Bible in the foundations of the new Southland Vineyard Church facility.  For most church buildings this is a great declaration of the Lordship of Jesus; for us it seems even more so since our new facility is right in the heart of the new Pasadena Shopping Centre.

There was a real sense of the nearness of God’s presence as we placed my precious old Bible, a gift given to me by my wife, Deb and our children in 1987 – the year we arrived in Adelaide, at the base of the footings under the new Southland Vineyard Church entrance foyer.

With the Bible in place at the base of the deepest footing here are the words we (very) publicly declared together -

We the people of Southland Vineyard Church, on this day the 4th of June 2011, hereby dedicate this land, its buildings and the people who gather to worship here in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, to the Lord our God.

We believe God has sovereignly ordained us to bring the power and presence of His kingdom to the marketplace in this location and beyond.

In the name of Jesus Christ we declare His favour on this building and all who enter, worship and trade within the boundaries of this property.

As a symbol of our declaration we hereby lay a Holy Bible in the foundation of this building, thus signifying our desire to build this ministry on the Word of God.  All this we do to the glory of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

AMEN

Our mission to bring the kingdom of God to the marketplace is happening at many levels.  What next ….

The excellent book (Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, Peter Scazzero) has been both a source of sanity and inspiration to myself and the church family at Southland Vineyard via an 11 week series of talks adapted from the book and drawing on my personal experience over 16 years of church planting and pastoring.

I highly recommend the book which is available from Amazon and locally through Koorong.
